Saturday Photo Hunt – Time
The concept of time is inescapable. At some point in our lives, we all begin to recognize the characteristics of time and become increasingly aware of its relevance and importance to our present circumstances – as well as our inability to have any influence what-so-ever on its passage.
Time seems to move much too quickly when we are approaching an undesirable milestone or event, but it seems to move at a snail’s pace when we are looking into the future with joyful anticipation.
Though the conveniences of our modern culture have greatly enhanced our ability to accomplish more in shorter periods of time, there are still many seasons and life cycles that simply cannot be hurried.
Babies still take nine months to grow in their mother’s womb, and there are still only 24 hours in every day. Caterpillars will not become butterflies without metamorphosis, and it takes all of thirteen years to become a teenager.
I am presently quite aware that despite my desires to the contrary, recovery from surgery can not be hurried either, and it takes much more time for me to accomplish anything than it did a week ago.
Some things just take time…
